NAMIKAWA YASUYUKI, FINE ANTIQUE JAPANESE MEIJI CLOISONNE OVOID JAR & COVER. The design is exceptional in its detail, decorated in polychrome enamels and silver and gilt wire, with a blue dragon to one side, and a ho-ho bird to the other. The sides are filled with cherry blossom and peonies on a deep cream ground.

The design is painstakingly applied with the finest craftmanship, as to be expected from this best of Kyoto workshops. The lid features a ball and claw gilt metal finial, and the jar stands on a shaped four footed base. Internally the jar is coated in pale blue enamel.

Height: 13.9 cm or 5 1/2 inches. Width: 10.3 cm or 4 inches. In good antique condition, without damage or restoration, one minute loss to the enamel at the neck to the jar.
