A Fine Edo Period boxwood Netsuke depicting a South Sea Islander. The dark boxwood figure is shown standing dressed in a leafy skirt with a slightly protruding belly. In his hand he holds a vine attached to a leafy palm branch on his back.

Himotashi to the back through the palm. It measures approximately 9.4cm high. In excellent condition with superb colour and patina. Wear commensurate with age and use. Provenance: From an old Vienna Collection.
