Edo Period fine carved wooden negoro lacquer netsuke unsigned
Excellent Japanese edo period carved wooden and lacquered netsuke, depicting an imperial robed fan dancer. I have had this netsuke examined by several experts, and new information has come to light, in that they have told me that this is most likely by a netsuke artist known as Negoro Sukyu, who specialised in lacquered wooden netsuke in this style. His works were rarely signed. Superb detail and natural age/use wear.
