Fine Signed 19th c. Japan Meiji Embossed Bronze Hand Mirror, Cranes and Turtle

  

Wonderful antique hand held Japanese mirror dating to the Meiji period, a time of excellence in craft in Japan. Measuring 10 3/4" long, with a 7" diameter to the mirror, the bronze piece is richly embossed with two cranes, a landscape with a fabulous tree, a tortoise, and an embossed signature on the left hand side. The back would be highly polished and will act as a looking glass, once the black tarnish spots are removed. In very nice as found estate condition, there are black tarnish spots on both the front and the back, as well as slight traces of verdigris on the front edges, but no damages or losses. Exquisite craftsmanship, no longer available, the mirror would be an honored addition to a dressing table, and is offered with out reserve.
