The pieces are beautifully hand painted with a garden scene with elder on one face and Ho-o / Hou-ou phoenix bird perched in a pine draped in wisteria on the other. The enamel work features extensive fine gold detail which is in good condition with some noted wear seen in the pictures. The vases measure 9 3/8" high, 5 ¾" wide at the handles, 5 ¼" deep and 3 7/8" across the top rim O. Both are in very good condition with no damage, there is some production kiln roughness on the underside back / "no see" edge of a couple feet.
This handsome pair would make a fine addition to your collection of 19th century / Meiji period Japanese Satsuma ware. Get Supersized Images & Free Image Hosting. Create your brand with Auctiva's.
