A beautiful pair of antique Satsuma vases. Made during Japans Meiji period. The necks and overall decoration on each is matching but each panel on each vase is unique.

So the scenes within the panels don't match on the vases but overall they make a lovely pair. Old Ford is a nice area in the outskirts of London. Fenton was a dealer of high end antiques in London for decades. The dealers sticker is on the base of one of these vases. I'd implore you to google the dealer.

Their sticker is found on pieces that reside in the MFA in Boston & The Victoria & Albert Museum in London, among others. The vases are in immaculate condition.

Not a flaw to be found anywhere. They must been brought back from Japan gone into a curio cabinet and not been touched for a hundred+ years until Fenton got ahold of them. They eventually made it to America from the UK. I love them but I prefer things a little further left from center for my personal collection so I'm moving them on. They are great size, not too small but also not too big that the average person can't fit them comfortably into their modern home. They are unsigned, which is very common for Satsuma ware. The quality speaks for itself though, they were made in a good workshop. Just image the time it would have taken to painstakingly paint all this fine detail by hand.

Many hours went into decorating each of these vases.
