Text in Japanese, with captions in English. Rare book on graphic design of Japanese children's from 1920 to 1940, to date the major publication on the subject. Dozens of Japanese illustrators are profiled, their work depicted in over 200 color plates showing both covers and illustration work of Japanese children's book, a good amount bearing the influence of Art Deco and Modernist trends. A second section in the back is devoted to children's book from the same period from both Europe and America, with nearly 200 books depicted in color.
