For most of its history, Takatori-ware has been predominantly associated with tea utensils. With the establishment of the Nishi-sarayama kiln group, other more utilitarian wares began to enter production. Nowadays, it is common to see a wide variety of ceramics produced in the Takatori-style.

This Ochoko/Choko sized sake cup is glazed with a white straw-ash madara glaze. In a reduction atmosphere, the glaze becomes a mottled pale blue colour. 7.4 x 5.4cm.
